18/12/17 - More garden birds; song thrush, starling and blackbird.
17/12/17 - New pictures of a song thrush and greenfinch in the garden.
12/12/17 - Two unexpected visitors to the garden seed tray; a male blackbird and a male house sparrow. The incusion of the new house sparrow picture prompted me to give the italian sparrow, previously on the house sparrow page, a page of its own.
07/12/17 - A walk round Whitlingham Broad yields new pictures of tufted ducks and a great crested grebe in winter plumage.
03/12/17 - A fantastic trip to the Hawk and Owl Trust reserve at Sculthorpe Moor yielded great views of the birds but the photographs are disappointing due to the poor light quality. Still, I've included new pictures of a water rail, nuthatch, bullfinch, blue tit, great tit and marsh tit.
19/11/17 - Two inhabitants of the allotment, both new to the site. The rather splendid Rustic wolf spider and, from a grower's point of view, the slightly less than splendid grey field slug.
08/11/17 - Rediscovered a photograph of a juvenile sparrowhawk from orkney in 2009. This is the first image of this species on the site.
06/11/17 - A fieldfare taking flight.
05/11/17 - A visit to the north coast of norfolk yielded three new species for me and so obviously new to the site, the caterpillar of the ruby tiger moth, a grey phalarope and a cattle egret. Also a flock golden plover.
04/11/17 - Added some landscapes from Orkney in the summer.
01/11/17 - Another Common frog, on the allotment again.
30/10/17 - In Earlham Cemetery, new pictures of grey squirrels and a jay. On Marston Marsh, new pictures of a carrion crow and, new to the site, the yellow dung fly.
19/10/17 - A more readily anticipated encounter with a common frog, on the allotment. However, this one is a completely different colour to the one on the 17th.

15/10/17 - A new picture of a common striped woodlouse, previously listed as Philoscia Muscorum. another species of plume moth, the common plume.
14/10/17 - In the kitchen, a beautiful plume moth.
12/10/17 - A new moorhen picture. And a sequence showing a jay cache an acorn.
05/10/17 - A new picture of a Dock Bug. A couple of nice pictures of a dunnock.
04/10/17 - Two species new to the site. On the allotment the large willow aphid. Walking home the caterpillar of the pale tussock moth.
29/09/17 - Another interesting visitor to the house, the noble false widow spider.
28/09/17 - A species new to the site, which took some identifying, the Black-kneed capsid.
26/09/17 - Another house guest, a field digger wasp. Finally, I've changed the font colour on this page so that it can now be read on mobile devices!
24/09/17 - An uninvited guest, new to the site, the house mouse. Fixed the links on the Tenthredo Livida page.
08/09/17 - Final species new to the website from Orkney, a common carpet moth. Lots of juvenile birds around in august - new pictures of young wheatears, a linnet and a black guillemot.
Back at home, a species of damselfly new to the site, the willow emerald Damselfly.
03/09/17 - Orkney continues. A species of auk new to the site, the black guillemot. New pictures of Greater black-backed gulls. New pictures of an adult ringed plover with a juvenile. New pictures of both cormorants and shags. Pictures of juvenile swallows and wheatear. A species of hoverfly new to the site, the unfortunately named bog Hoverfly and a new picture of a sun fly (hoverfly). Final few pictures to come over next week...
02/09/17 - More from Orkney. One of the highlights had to be an extended and close encounter with a pygmy shrew. Rabbits! and lots of new pictures of common seals. A pied wagtail sheltering from the rain and some juveniles on a beach. A species of hoverfly new to the site, the pied hoverfly. And still more to come...
01/09/17 - More Orcadian sightings. New pictures of fulmar soaring over cliffs and a chick on the nest. Rock doves on cliffs. An unusual sight for the UK, a summer whooper swan. A new picture of a herring gull. New pictures of sanderlings. New pictures of rock pipits. A new picture of a turnstone, moulting out of summer plumage. A species of harvestman new to the site, phalangium opilio. Another arachnid new to the site, a money spider. Surprisingly, new to the web site, the black slug. Everyone's rushing to that page! Still more to come, including mammal sightings...
31/08/17- Back from my holidays on Orkney! Plenty to come over the next few days. first up, three species new to the site: the increasingly rare great yellow bumblee; the marine woodlouse, the sea slater and a caddis fly, Limnephilus Lunatus. A new picture of the scarce moss carder bee. More to come...
