The Bee Fly was rather subdued the following morning and had to be rescued from the living room. It hitched a ride on the back of my hand. I put it on the lungwort which is producing fresh blooms daily. The state of my skin! Time for the Lotil again. Norwich - April 2021

I hadn't appreciated how amazing the legs are on this species until I saw this picture. By the Wensum - May 2018
The wings are so blurred because this individual was trying to warm up; wings buzzing to heat the muscles and with the added warmth from the tarmac it soon achieved its objective and flew happily off. Despite looking quite fearsome, the proboscis is only used for feeding on nectar and is quite harmless. The Close, Norwich Cathedral - May 2018
