Barkfly
This rather fearsome looking individual is, in fact, only about 5 mm in length. It feeds on lichen and algae found on trees. This one had fallen out of a tree onto the roof of the Hawk and Owl Trust tent in Norwich Cathedral Close. According to the National Barkfly Recoding Scheme website, a number of species do not have full-sized (macropterous) wings but have ones that are much reduced (brachypterous) or absent (apterous). Until I took this photo I had no idea of their existence. Norwich - June 2018 Thanks to Martin Elkins via iSpot for identification.
