Linyphiidae species (Money Spider)
This particular individual cannot be identified to species level. A member of the British Arachnological Society told me that it may be Megalepthyphantes sp. near collinus (thought to be a new as yet undescribed species) which (he) first found in Britain on the Isle of Sheppey in 1999 and which has since been spreading and is now found in a range of habitats including various semi natural habitat and indoors and in gardens and is now quite frequent in the London area and south-east. It is a large 'money spider' in the family Linyphiidae. Microscopical examination would be needed to be sure. I certainly don't have the expertese to microscopically identify spiders! As a large money spider the abdomen was 2-3 mm in length.
