Red Mason Bee
Identified for me by Steve Smailes on iSpot, who said, "The shape is very distinctive -what always seems an abbreviated abdomen, and very long antennae. Old specimens lose their reddish colour, from both the hair and the integument of the abdomen. They become dark and the hair goes greyish (females too). Having said that, any remaining colour tends to be drowned out by a yellow flower."
